Are you ready to give yourself over to the Lord fully? This is the time of year that we tend to be reminded that there are many people who will be jumping into the work place full time. Many of these people will not be considering working full time for the Lord. Many others who are leaving high school are not considering a Bible college. We as adults, who have made our mistakes and learned from them, need to remind our youth that we need them to consider jobs in Christian fields. The Bible tells us of some of the different jobs that are available for us. "And He gave some, to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" (Ephesians 4:11-12)We need to do everything that we possible can to assist God by getting His Word out (Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20) and in supporting the saints (And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Hebrews 10:24).

While some people are going into foreign lands we need to remember that in some ways large cities, such as New York City, can well be a foreign land. Many workers are needed in these areas. In New York City there are many people with great spiritual needs to work with but the laborers are few. In a city of over seven million less than one in ten thousand is a faithful believer. Part of that reason is that many people are not reached with the truth of God's Word. How can we as Christians feel right about the fact that so many people are not being taught the true Word of Jesus Christ? Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. (Luke 10:2)

New England as a whole is very short of workers also. Many people are not willing to go where they know that there will be great resistance. But the Bible makes it clear that God wants all to come to Him. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 Thus we MUST get out and teach ALL people in ALL nations. All nations includes New York City and New England, as well as foreign countries. Hardship will be there but the old saying really is true. No Pain - No Gain. How can you really make gains or appreciate the gains, for Christ if you are being an armchair quarterback? Where would you be if others were armchair quarterbacks? Did you decide out of the blue to go to church? More than likely you were invited.

Many churches, and church camps, would love the help that you could provide. If you are just looking for a place to work for the summer look to the beauty of New England or the challenge of New York City. I have mentioned only a very few of the many opportunities that are available for you.

I would also ask those of you that are starting out your career, or who are at a point in your life that you can make a change, think about the opportunities in Christian ministry. But please -
